Pre-Care

Incorporate spicules twice a week into a weekly routine for two weeks prior to peel (Bioherb 50 or O2 Tox). Discontinue all retinoids, exfoliating actives, physical exfoliants, benzoyl peroxide and other acne medication a week prior to treatment. Avoid heavy moisturizers before treatment. For clients who are prone to PIH, assess whether this is the right treatment, and at minimum they should use tyrosinase inhibitors prior to peel.

In Treatment Experience

Client should expect to feel a prickling, poking sensation which will last up to 72 hours.   Erythema is normal post peel. Expect it to get progressively more pronounced within the first 24 hours.

Post Treatment Care

For best results do not cleanse the skin or apply any moisturizer/SPF for 24 hours. about sun exposure, we recommend booking spicule treatments later in the day. After 24 hours cleanse with a gentle cleanser and use a light moisturizer if needed. If the client is uncomfortable we recommend cold compresses. Avoid exercise and excessive heat (saunas, yoga, steam rooms) for the first 72 hours. Do not exfoliate for at least 7 days post peel. Avoid the sun, and wear SPF.
